Live Bands Can Get The Party Started

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

You can find them as you walk the avenues of any large urban area. Plastered on bulletin boards, walls, and light posts are handbills announcing shows put on by live bands. What they call themselves may change from city to city, but each flyer is essentially the same: come to our show and experience the local music scene. These are the musical representatives of your city. This is the sound of your town.

In most cases, these flyers advertise performers who will appear at local clubs and venues. On a weeknight, maybe five different acts will set up at your local tavern. On a weekend there are usually fewer acts, but bigger names will take to the stage. In each instance, these musicians provide unique organic experiences. No live show is ever the same as any other.

Watching a band play at some local venue, however, is usually a different scene than seeing the same band play at a party or hosted event. In a nightclub setting, neither the band nor the audience can really tell what to expect. Will the crowd be excited to see them play? At the nightclub, no one can really tell until the show starts. At parties and hosted events this is different because the band and host have had a chance to work things out in advance. The crowd is guaranteed and everyone involved can be more relaxed.

Though DJs can provide their own kind of experiences, actual musical performers can make give a party a very different feel. Particularly, live musicians can take the pressure off of people in the audience and allow your guests to feel freer and unrestricted. DJs, though they can play hit songs, do not provide any visual stimulation. When your guests want to dance they may feel like everyone is looking at them because there is nothing else to look at. With actual musicians, however, especially a good group that can really work the crowd and keep attention n themselves, your guests do not have to feel unnecessarily self-conscious.

Homegrown talent can also give your guests a better sense of your citys actual creative expression. When DJs play, they take the latest songs that are popular from across the country and one DJs set in one city can usually be interchanged with another DJs set in another city. Only occasionally will a DJ have a deep enough library that he can play songs by local acts. Actual bands from your area, however, usually create music based their experiences in the local scene. These performers are usually more able to address the actual tastes and interests of their audiences.

For variety of musical tastes, a live ensemble is also a good choice. Many bands can play in a number of different styles whether it be rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country and western, or some other particular type of music.

For parties, bands are great because they tap into something essential to human consciousness. Making music as a group is a primal activity left over from our earliest ancestors. When bands play and create music on the spot, it can move people in a special organic form.

All in all, live bands are an asset for any party. They can make every event an enjoyable one.

Party Bands Liven Up Your Party Or Wedding

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

There is really no one in the world that hates music, it is an intrinsic part of what it means to be human. It is a central part of many cultures and a main form of expression. New forms of music are born out their time and circumstances, like the birth of jazz as a uniquely American artform. Music is always evolving and changing and we are surrounded by it now more than ever, what with the invention of mp3 players. These players are able to hold libraries of music, more than many could have conceived of listening in their lifetime and it allows us to be more voracious when it comes to the music we listen to.

Many times there are songs that define a couple and when you get married, the picking of a song to dance to can be a difficult decision. You don’t want something overly trendy and picking something too classic can mean picking something stale. One facet that should never be part of this decision is “we should tell the DJ what we decided.” Weddings are a grand occasion and should be treated as such with the renting of a party band.

Many people get DJs for their parties and occasions, but other than having playlists of music and a small sound system to play them out of, what is it that they do that a child couldn’t accomplish?

Playlists and computers are fine and even great methods of birthday parties at house parties, and they are requisite at many nightclubs but if you bring some of this automation to something like a wedding it cheapens to affair.

Party bands have real musicians skilled at their jobs that bring an air of professionalism and a sense of occasion to playing music. Also, with real musicians they are able to play with your favorite songs and alter arrangements and making it a true concert experience.

Some may say that DJs are the better choice, but it is nothing more than the sign of the times that we would prefer mediocrity and a modicum of talent that can be easily duplicated by ourselves.

While musicians spend their time toiling away at something that they love, many ventues are choosing to pay for DJs who are nothing more than a personality. For your wedding, it is better to have your reception in the hands of real professionals.

Prepping for a wedding takes time and about all money, but the price of a band does not have to be sky high and can run anywhere from $500 to $5,000. Whatever price you want to afford you can find a great band to suit your needs and also, they come with all of their own sound and PA equipment, which is not always the case with DJs. Bands are self sufficient.

DJs can charge an exorbitant amount of money and what you get in return is a little confusing for the price, but what a live party band you know that your money is going toward paying real live musicians who take an extra sense of pride and attention to detail in what they do.

Ways To Go About And Book A Band

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

There is an event and you have to book a band. How do you go about doing this, you ask yourself. There are easy steps to take when doing this. All you have to do is read this! You will find that when you hire a live band for your wedding or party, you’ll have a better time. Everyone will in fact, but you have to know how to do this. So, keep reading as we introduce you to some of the things to think about when you are looking for the perfect band.

One of the first tips is to see how much money you can afford to hire a band. This is what you feel you can afford. When you have this in mind, you will know where to begin. So, figure that out. There are some bands that charge by the hour. You might find some that charge just one set fee.

Once you do this, you need to look at where you are going to go about and have this event. This is something that you have to do in order to know the times in which the band will be performing as well as so the band knows how far they have to drive. In order to save money, you might have to look into getting a local band.

While you are setting things up, you also need to know which time and what date this event will take place. This will tell you how much time that you have in order to hire the band. The more successful the band is, the better your chances are that the band will book fast. So, if you have a band in mind, you have to call them in plenty of time in order to make sure you get them.

To go with that, you need to have a date in time. When you have a date far enough in advance, you can then start calling around and choosing the band of your choice. You need to give them enough time in advance to mark it on their calendar. That is why they will tell you that it’s appropriate to have called them and booked them two to three months prior to the event.

Next you’ll want to choose a band. The first place to start is locally and through different websites that can give you recommendations. You might even want to refer to your friends on this one, especially those that are associated with members of bands and with the event. Choosing a band is difficult because there are some many choices. Maybe choose one you’re more familiar with, so you are familiar with the music.

Lastly, make any payments that need to be made prior to the event. In many cases, bands require a downpayment, which reserves the date and promises you a commitment. However, the remaining balance is due the day before or the day of your event.

See, it’s really simple isn’t it? You might have been worried, but hopefully this has given you a starting point. Sure, you could go with a DJ, but trust us when we say that it’s only better when you go about and get an actual band. Everyone will have a better time when you do see.

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Whatever kind of event you are thinking of, whether it be nuptials or maybe you just wanted to host a unique and phenomenal gathering a live band can be one of your best options.

Live music created by a live band can genuinely alter the ambiance of a gathering making sure that your audience is having fun and will create an impression of happiness through music. Nevertheless, you might not have ever invited or tried to have a live band perform during one of your parties, and you may even find the process puzzling.

What are the things that you need in getting a band? How can you be sure of that they are the right one for your event? To start, the main thing that you should consider is to try to find individuals located in your region. Surfing the web might be an ideal way to deal with this. Try to browse some of the famous social networking sites like Myspace, Facebook and Twitter.

You may find a great live band that is interested in the gig in your area. On the other hand, maybe, you know somebody that had already done this before, ask them maybe they can advise someone for you.

Most often, you can see bands that are available just within your vicinity, or if those people are not good enough, why not try to look further. If you think you already, found a couple of bands that may fit your special function, make it a point to request to have a glimpse of what they are playing and how they perform. Most of these live bands are even volunteering to hand you out some of their demo music through CD’s and DVD’s. If not, you can find samples of their work over the worldwide web, which are usually available for everyone to see. These live bands can have their own song numbers and genre and even mention what types of special functions can they perform.

Searching for these people will not be difficult as you can do it even while sitting at home. Call or email those bands that you wish to be present at your party.

After you have a few bands whose sound you like, start calling them up. Keep some notes; the band that you choose should be one that responds quickly to you and that answers you in a professional manner. Remember that when you are booking live band that this is a professional endeavor and that you should get a certain level of professional behavior from them.

Consider this, how long did it take them to respond to your messages? Do they sound rude, or are you completely contented and satisfied with the manner that they handle you. Also, set expectations and let them know what your budget will allow.

Communication is the best tool to ensure that the program will run effectively.

It is more likely that the outcome of your party will be extravagant and much fun as long as you communicate well with the band, and vice-versa. Choosing a live band can certainly make a huge improvement on your chosen function.
